This
two battalion regiment was the contribution of the Elector/Archbishop
of Trier. According to Kronoskaf “The
Prince de Soubise rated this regiment as "poor". Indeed it
was assembled from scratch and filled up almost exclusively with
recruits, whose quality could be improved only with better training
and battle experience. For some time the 2nd Battalion was commanded
to guard the Reichsarmee artillery park: it was put again in the
battle order only by the Elector's persuasion. “
