New French SYW ordering now pre-eBay

Starting in week 45 (beginning of November) we will be painting 12 battalions of SYW/WAS French from Black Hussar’s new range using the kneeling and loading poses but basing them in such a way that the bayonets are safe from overhanging the bases, see the pictures.

Each battalion will be 24 figures strong based on 4 bases so suitable for rules like Maurice. The regiments are as follows:

I’m letting you know now so that anybody interested in purchasing can give us instructions now on regiments/facings, basing etc. The list can be changed now, the basing can be changed and quantities can also vary within reason. Just write to me. Otherwise, I will just paint to the list and they will go onto eBay in due course. Price is $180 a battalion plus postage. Discounts for ordering in bulk!

Erzherzog Leopold Cuirassiers

All the Austrian cuirassier regiments look the same (except for the blue faced Modena regiment) - red facings on a white coat. But there are minor differences. For example, this regiment has red trousers (A-Z last week had buff) and silver buttons (A-Z last week had no cuff buttons and the remaining buttons were brass).

Next week - dragoons, for a change.

Anhalt-Zerbst Cuirassiers

Here we go with nine Austrian SYW cavalry regiments. This is the Anhalt-Zerbst Cuirassiers, a regiment raised back in 1682. I've painted 5 squadrons of 4 figures plus an extra carabinier company (a strong company of 3 figures) that I don't show in the pictures. As I will do 4 regiments of Cuirassiers the 12 figures of carabiniers will be combined in an elite reserve unit. In practical terms there is no real difference between cuirassiers and carabiniers and, indeed, as far as I know, no manufacturer makes the distinction either.

The figures are all Crusader and I like them as they have a quiet menace about them.

The last of the Austrian grenadiers..............................

That's the infantry finished..........now on to the cavalry. Four Cuirassier regiments, five Dragoon regiments and more Hussars. Gulp!

French Fusilier Grenadiers of the Guard

I've added two battalions to eBay and next week will add the Fusilier Chasseurs.
