Foundry figures so a little 'cartoonish' but nobody else makes them (in 25/28mm) and they have a certain style of their own.

Last of the Cossacks - 12th regiment.
I have painted 12 regiments of Cossacks and 2 of Tatars so this phase is concluded while I go and replenish my stocks of brown paint. The next few weeks will see something new and then later on in the year I will embark of the huge number of Russian infantry.

What did an ancient Gallic Carnyx sound like?
When I have painted plastic Gauls I have often painted the horn as each unit seems to get one as a sort of ancient example of a Napoleonic drummer. I have always wondered what they sounded like and here it is:

Don Cossacks 5
These are from Eureka and match size-wise very well with Foundry cossacks. Both have made smaller horses (perhaps ponies) and only the Front Rank ones are mounted on normally sized horses.
These smaller horses work really well.
I am on the last leg of these cossacks - only two regiments to go!
Ural Cossacks 2
Ural Cossacks 1
These are mostly Foundry although the officer is from Eureka. They were painted a while back but I have finally got round to posting them.

Eureka's Cossacks skirmishing and cavorting......
The top two pictures show Eureka's 25mm skirmishing cossacks. They are quite nice figures but I prefer the Foundry foot figures. On the other hand, the up-coming mounted Cossacks from Eureka are brilliant.
The remaining figures are pillaging/looting cossacks. In the middle two pictures, they have done rather well as they have a large and important chest they have 'found'.There is even a duck.
In the bottom two pictures they are clearly the worse for drink. One is delirious that he has liberated a brass chamber pot and the other seems quite pleased with his candelabra. Fun to paint!
